Might have been those crappy old monitors however. The game itself was quite dark if I recall correctly. with long, dark corridors and I think even double door systems and such. Something was missing though.Īlso I somehow can't "unsee" or "unthink" images of a setting in a space station or spaceship etc. When I watched a Youtube Video of "Alien Shooter 2", I've had some flashbacks but I think the game I am looking for was released quite a bit earlier and was even darker in terms of graphics. So far I've searched the web and tried to sift through the forum but I didn't find anything that rang a bell. I am somewhat convinced the title was something different, but again, I could be wrong about that. I can't exactly tell if the title of the game had "Alien" in it. I'm not sure whether you picked up loot or bought it after one level but there was definitely a variety of different weapons and ammo types. There was definitely different ammo types for different weapons (even energy weapons) which was very crucial I remember.
I've some images in my mind that could actually lead me to believe the game even being directly related to the Alien franchise. I'm pretty sure it was alien-themed as I can recall stuff which resembled the actual eggs from the alien-movies where the face-huggers hatched from. Setting was somewhat like a space-station with different "levels"/stories of increasing enemy difficulty. Literally rectangular boxes with big CD-covers with multiple game CDs in them.Īnother game in that box for example was "Liberation Day" in case that can give a hint to a more relevant release date. I remember it being one of several games in one of those old game boxes. Should have been from the year 2002 and later.
#TOP DOWN ALIEN SHOOTER WINDOWS#
This specific one I am looking for was on Windows at that time. It's a pretty personalized opinion on games that'll effect if you like this one, so do some research and try to think of what the game's like before buying it, maybe look at some gameplay somewhere.I've had flashbacks lately of old games I used to play when I was a kid.
I picked it up for around $2.49 on Steam I believe, so for $2.49 it was a good purchase, FOR ME. Only if it's on sale is it worth the 5 hours (AT MAX) of play time it gives you, it can be very repetitive and lack variety for most of the time, as a warning. However I wouldn't often recommend this to, well, anyone, so in the interest of a community, and not my personal thought, I was generous and gave it a 6. It's very enjoyable to me because I've always loved old retro shooters, and I'm a sucker for most top down games.
#TOP DOWN ALIEN SHOOTER UPGRADE#
In this one and the others you simply walk around with a top down view and collect more powerful weapons than the previous, upgrade them along with your armor, and gun down thousands of enemies in huge groups at a time. They are all very similar and I can't help but think are basically all the same game.
#TOP DOWN ALIEN SHOOTER SERIES#
It's very similar to the other games in the series of which I have also played and completed most of: Alien Shooter 2, Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded, Alien Shooter: Revisited, Zombie Shooter, and a couple more. The gameplay is enjoyable as an arcadey, play-for-short-intervals type of game. The graphics are below par (even if they are shooting (no pun intended) for a retro feel).
The gameplay is enjoyable Well it isn't terrible.
